Personal reflection on the art gallery excursion

Before I go to the art gallery excursion, I had a little information about the Aborigines artworks, particularly in distinguishing between contemporary and traditional artworks. I didn't know that what their artworks mean and why they paint. During excursion I had an opportunity to look at the different artworks and think more about them. Some of my questions were answered by guides who explained what are them and showed us the Aborigines contemporary and traditional artworks. After excursion I had better idea and understanding of the Aborigines's feeling. I saw some of spectacular and meaningful artworks such as, bark painting, necklace , fruit bats...etc. There are many meaning behind some symbolic artworks such as fruit bats. In addition I was better understood by my teacher's explanation. Now I know why Aborigines paint and I can also distinguish between contemporary and traditional artworks.
Overall, the excursion was a good experience for me, because first of all it was the first time I have been to the art gallery and more importantly, now I have more information about the Aborigines, their background, values and culture. Now I know their painting are their writing language which they can maintain their culture and pass their culture more accurately to the next generation. Their painting can also be used as a map which is very important for aboriginal people.
